New Modulation Gate Randomizer: This function incorporates waveform-based oscillations, allowing for more dynamic and varied rhythmic patterns. Different waveforms (sine, square, triangle, sawtooth) are randomly selected, generating oscillating values that fluctuate between 0 and 1 for a richer rhythmic experience.
New House Matrix Gate Randomization: Added to the existing Jazz and Techno patterns, the new House matrix gate randomization type creates dynamic transitions essential for house music. OB-Xd version 3.3 update has resolved the issue where the modulation lever did not affect the global vibrato amount/depth, a problem noted in version 3.2. This fix restores the expected functionality, allowing users to modulate the vibrato LFO amount/depth with the modulation lever, as was possible in earlier versions up to 2.14 and in 3.1. Additionally, the update includes minor fixes to improve stability and performance across various platforms and DAWs.

OB-Xd updated to 2.13

Discovery 5.3, Schroeder 1.7, and Scope for iOS

We have exciting news for music producers and audio engineers! The latest updates for Discovery 5.3, Schroeder 1.7, and Scope for iOS are now available with several bug fixes and improvements.

The Discovery 5.3 update has resolved a significant issue with the VST2 build that caused the plugin state to reset after saving a project. This means that producers can save their projects without worrying about losing their plugin settings.

Schroeder 1.7 has also received a significant update, fixing a bug in the stereo processing code. Previously, the left and right channels were not processed independently, resulting in every other sample being ignored. Additionally, a potential out-of-bounds read has been rectified when the buffer size is not a multiple of 2. The mix behavior has also been modified to make it more transparent to incoming audio. This update has also compensated for perceptible decay time changes resulting from the stereo bug fix.

In addition to these updates, we are pleased to announce that Schroeder and Scope are now updated for iOS with the same updates as their desktop counterparts. This means that iOS users can enjoy the same level of functionality as desktop users, making music production on-the-go more accessible than ever before.

Scope 1.2 and Schroeder 1.5 have been released with several new features and updates that provide users with a superior audio experience. The updates include various improvements and new functionalities that are designed to make these tools more powerful, stable, and user-friendly.

Scope 1.2 has been updated with minor enhancements to the scope drawing functionality, increasing the refresh rate of the scope frame rate from 30 fps to 120 fps, and a major update to the framework. The new version also includes a new macOS icon and added Linux VST3 and standalone versions with JACK support, as well as Windows ASIO standalone support. Additionally, users can now install the software through macOS PKG and Windows Inno Setup installers.

Schroeder 1.5 has been updated with a new IIR 48 dB pole 20 Hz high-pass and 22 kHz low-pass filter, providing a cleaner sound and removing unwanted high frequencies. OB-Xd updated to 2.12

We are thrilled to announce the release of discoDSP's OB-Xd 2.12. The latest version is packed with several exciting features and upgrades, promising to take music production to the next level.

The optimized installation script for macOS makes it faster and more straightforward to install and utilize the plugin. Also, the plugin has a new macOS app icon that adds a modern touch to the interface.

OB-Xd 2.12 boasts a presets folder with over 1,000 categorized presets and a new bank selection, providing users with a seamless experience in finding the right sound for their projects. Additionally, the new Menu > File > Open Preset folder and Menu > File > Save Preset to Disk features allows users to access and save their presets quickly and easily.

The updated framework in OB-Xd 2.12 improves performance and stability, while fixing the issue of the Linux GUI not displaying correctly ensures that the plugin works flawlessly across different platforms.

Discovery 5.2 released

We have released Discovery 5.2, the latest version of its Nord Lead 2 inspired synth. This release includes several new features and improvements to enhance the user experience.

The framework has been updated in Discovery 5.2 to provide better performance and stability. Additionally, the release includes bug fixes such as the correction of the incorrect binding of the Delay Mix knob to Pitch Bend in the VST3 build and the reset behavior of the Layer function.

A fix has also been implemented for the reset of the bank on BitWig Studio with the VST3 build, making it more compatible with this popular DAW.

OPL FM synthesizer 1.1 released

We have released OPL for macOS, Windows and Linux as AudioUnits, VST, VST3 and Standalone.

The OPL is a digital sound synthesis chip developed by Yamaha in the mid 1980s. Among other products, it was used in sound cards for PC, including the Ad Lib card and early Sound Blaster series.

At a technical level: the emulator has channels comprised of 2 oscillators each. Each pair of oscillators is usually combined via phase modulation (basically frequency modulation). Each oscillator can produce one of eight waveforms (sine, half sine, absolute sine, quarter sine, alternating sine, camel sine, square, logarithmic sawtooth), and has an ADSR envelope controlling its amplitude. The unusual waveforms give it a characteristic sound.

Includes 2480 Sound Blaster instrument presets.

Scope visualizer 1.0 released

We have released Scope for macOS, Windows and Linux as AudioUnits, VST and VST3.

An oscilloscope uses a two-axis graph to give a visual representation of a waveform over time, with the horizontal axis representing time and the vertical axis representing the amplitude.

Oscilloscopes are frequently used to assist dynamics processing and sound synthesis. It's usually placed last in the signal chain, so that it analyses the cumulative effects of any plugins placed before it. Like any analysis plugin, though, you can place it anywhere in the chain, to view the signal at that point.

Multi-size GUI
We have rewritten Discovery Pro graphics engine and is now configurable in three window sizes: 1x (400p), 1.5x (600p) and 2x (800p). No more squinting when trying to look at some parameter or search for a led anymore! Of course CPU has been dramatically optimised at any configuration.
Linux support

Vertigo R3 released

discoDSP Vertigo R3 has been released for Mac + PC. Vertigo is a 256 oscillators additive synth with resynthesis and sound morphing. Imports WAV audio and PNG or BMP images. It loads in any host as a VSTi, and acts as a loader for other VSTis. So with Zen, you can search for Rhodes piano and get a list of all matching presets.

Zvon Discovery Pro Wave Bank

A free wave bank for Discovery Pro users is available at Members Area.

The original samples from which this soundfont is derived are from the University of Iowa collection. The samples actually in the Zvon WB (Winds and Brass) discoDSP SoundFont are those new samples and none of the University of Iowa original samples are used in it.

There are 15 programs. The first 7 are solo instruments and the 8 others are combis: Bass clarinet, alto sax, clarinet, oboe, trumpet, french horn and tenor trombone.

HighLife R3 released

HighLife R3 now has greatly improved sfz import, more in line with the official sfz specs. Most sfz files can now be used rightaway without the need to edit out any unsupported features or moving the soundfiles around on the computer.

SFZ Parser

Sample path can be relative or absolute to any location on the storage media.
Path names may contain blank spaces.
The <group> header can now be used.
<key> opcode is now recognized.
Comments can be put on the same line with opcodes.

Fixes and changes

The following additional zone parameters can now be modified from the zone editor panel: root key, low key, high key, low velocity, high velocity.
A couple of wave files that were refused by the previous version will now load fine.
Loopinfo will not be used if loopstart > loopend (workaround for some nonstandard wav editors)
When creating loop crossfades Highlife now implements a equal power crossfade instead of the previously used equal gain (linear) crossfade.
Highlife won't crash anymore whenever a sample can't be opened. Instead an error message is displayed and the load process is reverted.

HighLife SFZ Implementation

HighLife supports a subset of the sfz specification v1.0 opcodes. Unsupported opcodes can be included in the file. These will be ignored and should not cause any errors or misinterpretations. Unsupported headers (sfz v2.0 or third party) will be skipped. The parser will jump the next header if it finds an unknown one and ignore all opcodes inbetween.

Receptor hardware VST player

Receptor allows a person to run VST format software synths in an easy-to-use, portable, and robust hardware package.
